CITY OF BOLIVAR Proclamation FROM the OFFICE of the MAYOR PUBLIC HEALTH MONTH IN POLK COUNTY WHEREAS, promoting health and quality of life of all citizens of Polk County through prevention is a major goal of our county and WHEREAS, public health programs and services benefit everyone and are essential ingredients in a strong, successful health care system; and WHEREAS, public health activities protect citizens of Polk County from infectious diseases, environmental and workplace hazards, chronic diseases, and unintentional injuries; and WHEREAS, educating citizens of Polk County about the benefits of adopting healthful behaviors can empower them to attain good health and prevent needless suffering; and WHEREAS, Polk County's public health professionals are part of a system that provides quality health services to children and adults in this community; and WHEREAS, Public Health Month provides an opportunity to highlight and recommend the efforts of public health professionals to protect, promote and enhance the health of all citizens in Polk County; NOW, THEREFORE, I, Charles L. Ealy, Mayor of the City of Bolivar, MO, do hereby proclaim April 2001 as Public Health Month in Polk County, with the theme of "Healthy People in Healthy Communities," and encourage our citizens to recognize the public health system and its role in making this county a healthy, safe place to live.
